It’s been nearly 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
On that day, nearly 3,000 people died at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and in the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The Rome-Floyd County Fire Department will hold a commemorative service on Friday, September 11 at the fire department memorial plaza next to Rome City Hall.
The ceremony will start at 8:45 a.m., and seating will be provided.
There will be a display of flags by the Exchange Club of Rome and a flyover by the Museum of Flight.
The community is invited to honor the heroes, remember the lives that were lost, and recognize the courage and unity that continues to define our nation 25 years later.
