The Floyd County Commission is expected to award a bid for the demolition and installation of sidewalks and handicap ramps in Lindale when it meets on Tuesday.
Glenn Contractors LLC is expected to get the contract in the amount of $138,000 using 2017 special purpose, local option sales tax funds.
This leaves $107,115 that may be used for more sidewalk projects in the near future.
No budget change is needed.
Also on Tuesday, special recognitions for State Senator Chuck Hufstetler and Floyd County Police Captain Greg Dobbins are on the agenda.
The commission will conduct public hearings for a rezoning request from Suburban Residential to Agricultural Residential for 7050 Cave Spring Road in Cave Spring, and an ordinance to close an unopened area of right-of-way on Sunset Drive.
Commissioners will also consider resolutions regarding a road closure for a portion of Lindsey Road and amending the Rules of Procedure.
Under the Consent Agenda:
- 1. Consider request from Purchasing to approve awarding a bid to Infrahub for asset management services of pavement (roads) and signs for Public Works for $31,120 using funds from GL Account #100456-53700. No budget change is required.
- 2. Consider request from Public Works to approve a Tire Products Grant Award from the EPD.
- 3. Consider request from Emergency Management Agency to move forward with an application for funding from the 2026 Georgia Power Foundation Program for $6,500 for equipment improvements. This will require budget changes, but there is no net change to the budget. Increase 207378-46550, $6,500 (revenue) and increase 207612-59909 – $6,500 (expense).
- 4. Consider request from Airport to update the Airport Fee Schedule.
- 5. Consider request from Probate Court to approve a software and license support agreement with Criminal Justice Technologies pending final legal review. No budget change.
- 6. Consider approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with City of Rome Police Department for 2026 JAG Grant. This will require budget changes, but there is no net effect to the budget. Increase 330454 – 80199 $16,750 (revenue) and increase 330454-67120 – $16,750 (expense).
Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the county administration building on East Fourth Avenue.
